Black & Decker TO3210SSD Review – A Nicely Designed Toaster Oven

The Black & Decker TO3210SSD countertop convection toaster oven is not a bad choice at all if you are unsure over which model to buy given the wide range of choices available in the market for this small kitchen appliance. Why we think so is because it is better designed than a lot of other models out there with the same price range. In this review below, we will spell out its features so you can have an idea of why it may work better for you.

What’s So Special About The Black & Decker TO3210SSD Toaster Oven?

Black & Decker TO3210SSD

When researching the features for this Black & Decker TO3210SSD review, two things stood out. One, the toast shade setting for the toaster oven is a stand alone dial. It is not combined together with the timer which is often seen in other models. What usually happens when the timer and toast shade setting is combined into one dial is that there is a fine line between getting the perfect shade and charred toast. In other words, it could be easy to get your toast burnt if you are less than precise in your settings since the gap between light and dark could be small for the shared dial.  The picture below will illiustrate what we mean. On the left is the Black & Decker TO3210SSD while on the right is the Hamilton Beach 31512.

  • 1500-watt
  • 4 cooking modes
  • External crumb tray
  • 3 rack positions
  • Convection heat
  • Ready indicator light
  • Dedicated toast shade dial
  • Timer with auto shut-off
  • Size: 18″ (W) x 13″ (D) x 12″ (H)

The 4 cooking modes for this oven are bake, broil, toast and keep warm. According to the manufacturer, this oven is designed to cook 20% faster than previous models. There is also convection heat available for faster pre-heat times and more even cooking.

An audible signal will alert you when your food is ready. A 60-minute timer with automatic shut-off will give you that peace of mind that the oven will shut down when time is up. If your food needs longer than an hour to cook, you can also opt for the oven to stay on continuously until you shut it off manually. The 3 rack positions also allow you to cook a greater variety of food.

The interior dimensions of the Black & Decker TO3210SSD are approximately 13″ (W) x 12″ (D) x 9″ (H). It can fit 6 slices of bread or a 12″ pizza. The external crumb tray is removable from underneath the toaster oven with front access.

Should You Buy The Black & Decker TO3210SSD Convection Toaster Oven?

Pros
  1. Cooking performance – This toaster oven works great for the majority of buyers. The food is evenly cooked with fast heating times. One customer mentioned that it cooks twice as fast as her larger Hamilton Beach toaster oven. Others recommend reducing the time or temperature to avoid the food being overdone. The toast comes up crunchy, depending on your setting, with an even shade throughout.
  2. Price – The retail price is reasonable at about $60 at the time of review. All the required features are there – timer, automatic shut-off, convection heat, front access crumb tray and multiple rack height positions. A similarly-priced model is the Black & Decker TO3250XSB but this is a 8-slice model measuring 22″ wide. The Cuisinart TOB-4o has similar features but it costs about $20 more, so the Black & Decker TO3210SSD still seems like a better value buy.
  3. Stainless steel look – The oven has a silver color that will easily match other kitchen appliances that you have. The interior also has no nonstick coating for you to worry about potential health hazards.
Cons
  1. Rack doesn’t auto-eject – There is no hinge to pull the rack out when you open the oven door. It is a minor inconvenience but the trade-off is you get 3 rack positions for this model instead of one. For a 6-slice toaster oven that has an auto-slide out tray, you can look at the Breville BOV800XL.
  2. Loud timer – Some folks find it annoying that the timer ticks quite loudly as it winds down. If you have a sensitive ear, you might not like this much.
  3. Large – This is a pretty bulky unit. Its width is comparable to most other 6-slice models but its height is on the tall side. For instance, the Waring Pro TCO650 is only 10.75″ high while this Black & Decker unit is 12″ high. It is not the model to get if you want to save space. For that, you might be better off with 4-slice toaster ovens.

This countertop convection toaster oven enjoys many positive compliments from users. There are hundreds of reviews just on Amazon alone. You are not paying too much for it and with the many great reviews, we feel that the risk is minimized for this purchase. It is definitely one of the better ones in the market from the many that we have seen while writing for Time 4 Toast.

Easy to use, economically-priced and good cooking performance make the Black & Decker TO3210SSD worth a buy. The drawbacks are minor for the evenly cooked food that you get.
