Having a rotisserie function built into your toaster oven gives you an additional way of cooking within a single kitchen appliance. More cooking options is always better than less because there will always be a time when the options will come in handy. The Cuisinart TOB-200 is one of these models with a variety of cooking modes including a rotisserie function, to make life easier for a busy family. This review will take a peek at this convection toaster oven and check out what buyers are saying about it.
Cuisinart TOB-200 Rotisserie Convection Toaster Oven Review
If you are buying the TOB-200 for its rotisserie function, then bear in mind that its capacity is limited to a 4-lb chicken or 5-lb duck. The spit and skewers are included to keep the meat in place and the whole thing will fit nicely onto the sockets at the side walls of the oven interior. There is a rotisserie button to press to select the options of Chicken, Duck, Meat or Custom with preset temperature and time. You can change the settings by using the selector dial for more precise cooking.
Other features of the toaster oven are:
- 1875-watt
- 12 cooking functions
- Digital controls with LED display
- Brushed stainless steel exterior
- External crumb tray drawer
- Exact heat sensor
- Always Even Toast Shade control
- Nonstick interior
- Size: 19″ (W) x 15″ (D) x 12″ (H)

The 12 cooking functions include convection, rotisserie, toast, broil, pizza and leftovers. The toast function has a wide shade range of 1 to 7 which gives room for fine-tuning to get that perfect shade. Toast and pizza, which is another commonly used function for a toaster oven, also have a frozen option so that it will adjust accordingly for the thawing process.
There are 4 slots for the wire rack. The upper and middle positions will see the rack being pulled out halfway when the door is opened. The crumb tray has a pull-out handle and removable externally from the front. On one side of the oven lies the controls. There are only 3 keypads here and they are the convection, rotisserie and start/stop buttons. Together with the selector dial, you will be controlling the settings using these few items. The selector dial is the one that will set the cooking function, time, temperature, toast slices, shade and clock. You rotate the dial to scroll through the settings and press it to confirm.
Similar to other Cuisinart toaster ovens like the TOB-195, the TOB-200 also has the exact heat sensor and Always Even Toast Shade technology. Basically, this works to give users a consistent cooking performance each time by regulating the temperature to give the same results each time.
The size of the Cuisinart TOB-200 is in the listed features above. This is the external measurement that includes the handle and back hook. The interior dimensions are approximately 12.5″ (W) x 12″ (D) x 9″ (H) which can fit 6 slices of bread. The largest pizza that you can put in is the 12″ one.
Should You Buy The Cuisinart TOB-200 Toaster Oven?
Pros
- Rotisserie works great – One of the reasons you would buy this is because of the availability of the rotisserie function. And according to most buyer reviews online, the rotisserie works well and the food turns out delicious. This is a better option than the T Fal OT274E which also has a rotisserie option but performs poorly as an oven.
- Digital settings – The digital settings make this unit much more precise in terms of controls with a fairly accurate temperature. The heat is consistent and even to give better toast and cooking results just like the Cuisinart TOB-135.
- Beep volume control – The oven beeps when a cycle completes. As different people have different sensitivity to sounds, a good option is to have volume control. For the TOB-200, you can turn off the beeping sound completely and or turn it even louder to fit your own preference.
- Three-year warranty – At the time of writing, the manufacturer is offering a three-year limited warranty for this model. Most units will only be given a one-year warranty including popular models like the Breville BOV800XL. Given that toaster ovens have a reputation of breaking down within a short period of time, a three-year warranty will offer comfort for your purchase.
Cons
- External gets hot – Some buyers have commented online that the sides and door can get pretty hot when the oven is in use. Care would be needed when operating the oven with adequate ventilation space provided.
- Small for rotisserie – You can only roast a small bird for an oven of this size. So, some people might find the unit pointless if they are cooking for a large family. For an extra large toaster oven, you might like to take a look at the Oster TSSTTVXLDG instead but this model comes without the rotisserie feature.
- Price – For rotisserie toaster ovens, the Cuisinart TOB-200 is on the upper end of the scale. You can get the MaxiMatic ERO-2008S Elite Cuisine toaster oven for much less (about $65 at the time of review) compared to $160 for this Cuisinart model. However, there are not many toaster ovens with rotisserie function in the market and Cuisinart is probably the only reputable brand name in this segment.
If you are looking for a rotisserie function, then this Cuisinart TOB-200 rotisserie convection toaster oven would be a nice addition to the kitchen. The price is the only drawback but we also feel that the three-year limited warranty sort of compensates for the higher price that you need to pay.
On the whole, it performs well as a toaster oven, not just for the rotisserie function. For its multi-function capabilities, we feel this is a worthwhile buy.

We have had two of the Cuisinart ovens and neither of them heated properly. When the oven was empty it would reach the temperature. As soon as you put the tray in the temperature was always at least 25 to 50 degrees below the setting.

I have just received our third TOB200 and it doesn’t heat any better than the first two. The temperature is always 25 to 50 degrees lower than the setting. I have turned the oven on with a new oven thermometer on the rack. No pan, no food. The temperature goes to the setting on the oven control when the oven is empty. As soon as you put a tray in the oven the temperature is always lower than the setting. Cuisinart says to return the oven. Pay for the shipping and a $10.00 charge. Why should I have to pay anything to get their oven to work as advertised?

I bought mine last week. Its LCD panel already started blinking and is not showing the writings properly. I have a hard time for choosing the right settings. I know that I have to ask for an exchange but I am thinking what if the next one shows the same problem.
How are your ovens working now? Did you have any problem with its LCD panel?
Audrey
If yours is still under warranty, it’s prudent to contact them for an exchange. You won’t be able to ask for assistance later if the problem gets worse once the warranty has expired.
