Red Toaster Oven Reviews

Some people just like to have matching colors in their kitchen. If they can, they would like to extend that to their appliances too so that everything will look co-ordinated. Apart from silver, white and black, the other color that people tend pick for their kitchen appliances is red. So, it is not surprising to be able to find quite a few red toaster oven models in the market to cater to this group of buyers. Below are 4 of the best-selling red toaster ovens that we have come across at different price points and catering to different needs.

Hamilton Beach Red Toaster Oven

Hamilton Beach Ensemble Toastation

If you just want a cheap red toaster oven, then you can take a look at the Hamilton Beach Toastation. This is a compact model with toaster slots at the top and a small oven at the bottom. The toaster slots are 1.5″ wide and you can toast 2 slices of bread at one go. The oven can fit 2 16″ pizza slices.

The manufacturer claims that this Hamilton Beach Toastation 22703 can toast 24% faster than a leading toaster oven. It also reheats 28% faster and uses 73% less energy than a conventional oven. It uses knobs for the toast shade and temperature settings.

Being a $30 to $40 price range toaster oven at the time of writing (you can get it for slightly less at times), you can’t really expect much out of it. There are drawbacks like inconsistent toast shade and risk of defects. There are also missing features that you would take for granted on a better quality toaster oven such as auto shut-off. So, if you have more money, we wouldn’t recommend this at all. If you can forget about the red color, then there is definitely more options of small toaster ovens that you can get.

But if you are running on a really tight budget or just doesn’t have the space and really want a red toaster oven, then this is one of the best options notwithstanding the drawbacks. The low cost and compact size will work to your advantage in this case.

Nostalgia Retro Series 3-In-1 Breakfast Station

Nostalgia Retro Series 3-in-1 Breakfast Station

This red breakfast station not only has a toaster oven but also a coffee maker at the side and a griddle at the top. It has a 1950’s look with dials to control the settings. Change from coffee to grill or oven and back with a simple switch and use the selector dials to choose the timer and function settings.

The coffee maker can brew up to 4 cups of coffee while the toaster oven can fit 4 slices of bread. The oven tray and nonstick griddle is removable for cleaning. A griddle glass lid is also provided.

If you are seriously looking for a red breakfast station, this is it. You get a coffee maker, griddle and toaster oven in one single unit. So, it can save you space compared to buying the 3 items separately. Each function works well enough to give you a full breakfast.

But as in all 3-in-1 breakfast stations, it is not perfect. The quality can be better. Your food may also take a while to cook on the griddle and there is no temperature settings to control your cooking process. In other words, this is for simple meals like toasts, bacon and frozen pizzas. If you are looking for anything more or expecting a higher standard of user experience, you will need a stand alone toaster oven.

Hamilton Beach Red Convection Toaster Oven

Hamilton Beach Red Convection Toaster Oven Broiler

Moving along the price range, it is time we take a look at a bigger unit more suited for family use to cook a wider variety of dishes. The Hamilton Beach Convection Toaster Over and Broiler 31806-MX can fit a 12″ pizza or 6 slices of bread. It has bake, broil toast and convection modes with timer and temperature settings controlled by 3 selector dials.

The convection mode will turn on the fan to circulate heated air inside the toaster oven so that the food will be more evenly cooked. You get auto shut-off with this oven and a slide-out crumb tray.

If you value beauty in your appliances, this is a gorgeous red toaster oven that will look good in your kitchen. It does toasts reasonably well but it does take trial and error to get the setting right with the analog dial. The convection mode does quicken the cooking process but may also need adjustment to your recipe timing to ensure the inner part of the food is thoroughly cooked while the top and bottom part do not get burnt.

This Hamilton Beach red convection toaster oven does have its weaknesses including a noisy timer, long heating time and stiff dials. Also, while the color looks nice, the numbers and letters are hard to see against the red background. Basically, its performance as a toaster oven is average but if you want to add in appearance in your buying decision, this might tip the scale in its favour.

Breville Red Toaster Oven

Finally, if you want more functions and a digital toaster oven which is also red in color, then you would need to look at the Breville BOV800CRNXL which we think is one of the best toaster ovens in the market. The exact shade of this unit is cranberry color rather than bright red but it will still look great on any kitchen counter. It is a beauty, if you can afford it and don’t mind spending over $200 for a toaster oven.

It has a LCD display screen with 3 rack positions and 5 quartz heating elements. It has 9 menu functions with a convection mode to give you a really wide variety of cooking options. There are really few toaster ovens in the market with such a comprehensive list of functions, what more if you want a unit in red color. Other comparable models would be the KitchenAid KCO273SS and the Cuisinart TOB-260 but you won’t be able to find them in any shade of red.

The main drawback of this Breville red toaster oven is, naturally, the cost. Generally, users are happy with the performance of this smart oven although there are a few complaints that the life span is rather short as it starts to get defective after a short period of time.
